How is Angela helping to raise awareness about community concerns relating to animal cruelty, rescuing kitties and protecting animal welfare laws in the State of Hawaii?

Animal Rescue
Angela has worked with various networks across the State such as vet clinics, adoption agencies, cat coffee shops, pet hospitals, cat hotels, bird rehabbers & animal rescue organizations to understand the barriers to healthcare access & funding for people who are rescuing cats, caring for animals and for those who are low-income pet owners.
She is active in rescuing with Trap & Neuter programs while working with businesses, nonprofits & community members. Angela works with wild bird rehabbers to provide stability & veterinarian resources to rescued animals.

Angela has provided comments for various public policies relating to animal cruelty & animal rights.
In 2024, one of the bills she testified for relating to surgical practices that are inhumane & cruel was enacted as Act 221 (HB 1527). This policy prohibits surgical procedures such as cutting, docking or cropping tails & ears of puppies, except when performed by a licensed vet. Over the years, she has supported bills for increased funding for Trap & Neuter programs and to amend agricultural zones to accommodate animal care and veterinarian facilities for animal sanctuaries.
2025
Animal Sanctuary at Statewide event
Angela created an animal sanctuary zone to raise awareness about resources for children & youth at an annual event. The event is statewide and has been operating for 32 years. This year attendees reached 25k. The animal sanctuary zone included an animal sanctuary, a community organization working with the Honolulu Zoo and a canine patrol from a public safety emergency response team.
