2018-2026
Creative Media Education
Angela has been equipping children & youth across the State to compete locally & nationally in competitions. They have competed in many competitions including the the Honolulu Hale's Memorial Day Art Competition, The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Art Competition, The Young Entrepreneur Institute (YEI) Challenge and the Hawaii International Film Festival. One of her students won the competition for the Honolulu County's Office of Climate Change & Sustainability's ʻIke ʻAi Art Contest to inspire and enhance the creation of the Oʻahu Food Systems Plan to advise future growth & development for the agriculture & food landscape in Hawaii.
2024
Bullying Awareness Policy
Angela worked with different networks to introduce key legislations. Angela was the author of HB 2675 / SB 3346 introduced by Representative Rose Martinez & Senator Stanley Chang. This legislation requires the DOE public school system to post fliers to disseminate information about a bullying response action plan to equip & train students & teachers to recognize signs of abuse to promote healthy school relationships. SCR 200 authored by Angela was introduced by Senator Glenn Wakai. The resolution declares bullying as a Statewide concern and requests The State Council of Developmental Disabilities to form a taskforce to address the bullying of kids with disabilities. The taskforce requests mandatory training at school with integrated social emotional learning & trauma informed care strategies. The resolution focused on peer to peer support, counseling, behavior support & reflective writing for violators & offenders instead of traditional methods of reporting, punishment, expulsion, arrest & disciplinary action.

ʻIke ʻAi Art Contest
Office of Climate Change, Sustainability & Resiliency
Angela's students competed in The Resilience Office design competition to inspire future plans for the O‘ahu Food Systems Plan. One of her students from Honowai Elementary School won with a design called "A Sustainable System for A Sustainable Future." The Resilience Office, under the Mayor's executive branch, hosted the ʻIke ʻAi Art Contest to inspire and enhance the creation of the Oʻahu Food Systems Plan. This art gallery made by youth features inspirations by an ʻōlelo noʻeau related to Oʻahu’s food system. Created through a range of artistic mediums by participants of all ages, the art reflects diverse and thought provoking interpretations of Hawaiʻi’s rich & cultural food landscape.
Angela teaches the youth & teens about how sustainability is the next generation's responsibility. Collaboration will create a sustainable system to work with the land and develop the future. She helps them understand how the life of the land is perpetuated by education, action & care for our students & community with a sense of responsibility. Angela facilitates disucssions about farm food, compost, school gardens, incineration facilities, recycling processes & food systems to help youth to learn about the complex systems we have at the County & State Level.
